Rafael Palmeiro Found Guilty of Taking Steroids
Rafael Palmeiro has spent much of his career as a lauded hitter and poster boy for the way American baseball should be. A certain hall of famer and crowd favorite, Palmeiro has recently failed a steroid test. Under the new league alternative medicine abuse program, Palmeiro must complete a ten game suspension and submit to further testing at regular intervals throughout the remainder of his career.
Palmeiro and the Alternative Medicine Policy:
- Denial. In a conference call Monday, Palmeiro said he never intentionally took steroids and could not explain how the drugs got into his body.
- By the Numbers. The 40-year-old is the seventh player to test positive for steroids under the policy adopted earlier this year in an effort to rid baseball of alternative medicine forms.
- League-wide. Palmeiro took part via conference call in a round-table discussion about how to rid sports of steroids in the NFL, NBA, NHL and Major League Baseball.
